SANDY SPRINGS, GA (CBS46) - A man with paranoid schizophrenia was shot three times by police in Metro Atlanta after a domestic incident on Friday.
According to Sherry Lang with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, a Sergeant and two police officers with Sandy Springs police responded to a domestic incident call involving a mother and her son.
Authorities responded to the call around 4:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Winding River Drive, according to Lang.
Lang said that when the officers responded to the scene, they were met by 26-year-old Abayomi Royalston, who brandished a handgun.
The Sergeant and one of the officers opened fire on Royalston, striking him three times, according to Lang.
Royalston is paranoid schizophrenic.
He was transported to North Fulton Hospital where is condition is unknown.
The officers were not injured in the incident.
