ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – An investigation is underway after a woman was shot while inside west St. Louis home early Monday morning.
According to police, a 36-year-old woman was inside a home in the 5900 block of Horton when she heard a car alarm sounding. The woman looked out her window to see four men trying to break into a car. At least one of those men pointed a gun at the woman before firing a bullet through the window, striking her in the chest at 5:15 a.m.
Police say the woman was conscious as she was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover.
According to Police Chief Sam Dotson, crime analysis has identified the area as one of the areas that needs focus and officers were being dispatched in the area Monday, just hours after the incident occurred.
Police say the victim did not know the suspects, nor did she recognize any of them.
