WARREN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A deputy in Warren County has been placed on unpaid leave after lying about an ambush shooting Saturday night.
The deputy reported being shot at by a suspect at the Reifsnider State Forest, but Warren County officials now say there is no truth to the story.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the deputy in question is an army veteran suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The officer’s family is coordinating with the Sheriff’s Department to organize treatment for his disorder.
