GASCONADE COUNTY (KMOV) -- A former Gasconade County sheriff's deputy and his friend have been charged with sexual assault, statutory rape and use of a child in a sexual performance.

The deputy, Marty Rainey, 51, Sullivan, and his friend, Jonathan Pohlmann, 46, Owensville, are accused of having several sexual encounters with a victim. Officials interviewed Rainey and they determined he had violated several department policies and procedures. Rainey resigned from the department in November 2012.

The department got several additional complaints about Rainey and in 2013, Sheriff Randy Esphorst requested a further investigation under the direction of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Warrants were issued on Monday and Rainey was charged with two counts of acceding to corruption by a public servant, two counts of sexual assault, one count of statutory rape and one count of use of a child in a sexual performance.

Pohlmann was charged with one count each of sexual assault, statutory rape and use of a child in a sexual performance. Both suspects were arrested in Sullivan and are being held without bond.
