FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Il. (KMOV.com) – A man who admitted he tried to murder two Fairview Heights police officers in 2012 has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

In 2012, gunman, 30-year-old Dallas McIntosh, was pulled over by two officers for an unspecified offense at the intersection of Highway 50 and Bunham Road in Fairview Heights. The officer ran McIntosh’s information and as he was approaching his vehicle, McIntosh opened fire on the officer. The bullet hit the officer’s flashlight which sent shrapnel into his hand.

The officer returned fire and McIntosh fled the scene. He then crashed into a garage on Pershing Street and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
