Man charged with arson, burglary in relation to three fires set in Pike County

PIKE COUNTY, Mo.- A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with several fires that took place near Curryville Saturday. 

According to Pike County Sheriff Stephen Korte, his department and the Curryville Fire Protection District responded to three seperate fires on Saturday, Jan. 24

Curryville Fire Chief Colton Marti said he suspected the activity was suspicious and Melvin J. Yoder, of Bowling Green, was taken into custody Saturday night in relation to the fires. 

Yoder was stopped, but not arrested, by a Deputy in the area of the final fire prior to it being reported and another deputy identified Yoder as being at the first two fires set Saturday.

Deputies later located Yoder at his residence, where he admitted to setting the fires. 

Yoder is currently in custody and has been charged with burglary and arson for entering two building and setting them on fire.
