ALTON, Ill. (KMOV.com) --  A 27 year-old man was arrested Wednesday after admitting to a Jan. 12 three-vehicle crash on social media, police said.

Dustin E. Freytag was arrested by Alton police and was charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving while his license is suspended and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

Police say Freytag and a male passenger left the scene of an accident at Illinois Route 140 and Stanley.

The passenger in Freytag's vehicle came forward and admitted to police that the men fled because they were scared because Freytag was not in possession of a valid driver's license.

Police told the passenger to have Freytag to come to the station, but he had not made his way to the station as of Thursday.

Police received a call from a woman who claims to have seen Freytag's posting about the crime on Facebook. The woman then emailed a snapshot copy to police.

According to a police report, Freytag was entering an intersection to make a left turn when a pickup truck ignored a red light and struck Freytag's SUV and another vehicle in the intersection.

The drivers of the other vehicles in the incident were taken to the hospital with injuries, treated and released.
