KIRKWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Kirkwood City Councilman Paul Ward has been given the green light to move high-tension power lines hanging over Tillman School.

The city council voted on Jan. 15 to remove the power lines, which hang over the school in the 230 block of Quan Avenue. The project involves moving a 344,000-volt transmission line from the south side of Quan Avenue.

The council voted to remove the power line because many people fear an out-of-control vehicle could crash into it and injury students.

The project is estimated to cost $288,500 with the cost being split between Kirkwood City, Kirwood schools and Ameren.
