Fairview Heights police to crack down on drunk driving this weekend

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Police in Fairview Heights, Illinois say they will conduct special patrols to crack down on drunk drivers and seat belt law violators throughout Super Bowl weekend.

“Drunk driving is completely preventable,” said Lt. John Proffitt. “All it takes is a little planning. We want fans to remember that it’s a choice, and the choice is simple. Drink or drive—but never do both. If you do, you will be arrested.”

Police say they will also administer tickets to anyone violating seat belt laws.

The Super Bowl enforcement effort is funded by the federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
