SOUTH ROXANA, Il (KMOV.com) – Police say a teen is responsible for dozens of car break-ins in South Roxana, Illinois.

According to authorities, Edward Kraut, 18, broke into more than 25 cars during a two week period. They say he unlocked the cars in and around his neighborhood and stole whatever was inside.

Police say he admitted to the crimes and told them how he did it.

“They call it ‘Car Hopping’ and they’ll go from car to car and try the door handle,” said South Roxana Police Sergeant David Davis. “If it’s unlocked, they’ll enter the car and take anything they can find.”

Officials say they still have unclaimed property from the crimes and are urging any possible victims to contact police.
