SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- Springfield police say they are questioning a man after an officer was shot early Monday but they are not yet saying the man is a suspect.
City officials say the officer suffered serious injuries after responding to a “check person’ call in north Springfield about 1:30 a.m. Monday. His condition has not been released.
A man who was hiding in a fenced-in auto lot near the shooting scene was taken into custody later Monday morning. Police said in a news release that his possible involvement in the shooting has not been confirmed and the search for a suspect continues.
A description of the shooter and further details were not released.
