Power restored after underground manhole fire in St. Louis City

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – More than 500 people were without power after an underground manhole fire Friday morning.

Fire officials say an underground manhole fire was reported in the area of Morganford and Chippewa around 7:30 a.m.

According to Ameren Missouri, 537 people were without power in the city of St. Louis shortly after the fire was reported. Ameren said restored power to the area around 9:00 a.m. 

Fire officials say the outages includes traffic lights.

No other details were immediately available.
