ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Superintendent Dr. Ty McNichols of the Normandy Schools Collaborative has resigned from his position, effective Friday.
McNichols presented a resignation letter to the school district's Joint Executive Governing Board (JEGB) on Thursday evening, stating his decision to leave was not easy.
"I truly loved working in the Normandy learning community," said McNichols in his resignation letter. "I want the total NSC community to focus not on me, nut on how to ensure that our students accomplish academic, social and emotional growth and success."
The JEGB announced a search for a new superintendent following McNichols's resignation, which will be conducted nationwide.
The JEGB elected their group chairman, Dr. Charles Pearson, to serve as interim superintendent. Andrea Turhune will serve as the JEGB's new chairman.
