BUNKER, Mo. (KMOV.com) – An employee of the Doe Run Company lost his life while scaling a mine roof near Bunker, Missouri Wednesday night.
John Hoodenpyle, Sr. was killed while he was checking for and removing loose rock from the company’s Fletcher Mine. According to the company, the employee's equipment cab was hit by loose material, which fatally injured him.
Following the accident, all employees inside the mine were brought above ground.
No other employees were injured in the incident.
The Doe Run Company says they notified the Mine Safety and Health Administration immediately after the incident. The Mine Safety and Health Administration will lead an investigation into the accident, according to the Doe Run Company.
