CHICAGO (AP) -- Authorities say a prostitute and red die played a key role in catching a 38-year-old man accused of wielding a hammer to rob a suburban Chicago bank of nearly $2,000.

The FBI released a complaint Friday accusing Anthony Nugent of walking into a TCF Bank Monday morning, holding a hammer over a teller and saying, "Give me the money."

A die pack embedded in the cash soon after exploded, staining it.

Later Monday, Nugent allegedly paid a prostitute $300 and she told investigators she noticed bills were stained red. Nugent allegedly told someone else he'd spilled Kool Aid or fruit punch on it.

Nugent was arrest at his Morton Grove home Wednesday. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

There was no public telephone listing for Nugent.
