(KMOV) – Educators in Hazelwood School District received a crash course in school safety.
The ALICE Program trains teachers to find a safe escape route or disable an intruder when practical to prevent causalities.
Hazelwood Superintendent Dr. Grayling Tobias said it is not a matter of if the training will be used but when.
“We want to make sure our staff is prepared for any situation that would occur because they are on the front lines, taking care of our students and that’s why we do it. Safety is out number one concern in the Hazelwood School District,” Dr. Tobias said.
The training was provided by the St. Louis County Police Tactical Operations Unit.
