(KMOV) – An Alton woman who went missing Tuesday was found alive in Mitchell, IL on Wednesday.
Shirley Plunk, 82, was reported missing by family members Tuesday after she had not been seen since 11 a.m. on Monday at her residence in Alton.
According to authorities, detectives are en route to meet Madison County Deputies at the scene where Plunk was found in Mitchell, Ill.
Owners of the property where Plunk was located say they came across a vehicle stuck in the mud at the end of a dirt road during a horseback ride and contacted police.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the tip and immediately contacted the Alton Police Department.
Plunk’s family was notified and will soon reunite with her at a local hospital. Plunk will be evaluated prior to returning home.
The investigation is still ongoing, however, foul play is not suspected.
