CREVE COEUR, Mo. -- A St. Louis County man is accused of robbing a Creve Coeur bank and a pharmacy, then trying to get away in a taxi.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 54-year-old John A. Barbera of Chesterfield was charged Tuesday with two counts of first-degree robbery. He is jailed on $150,000 bond.
A First Bank branch inside a Dierbergs grocery store in the 11400 block of Olive Blvd. was robbed Monday afternoon. Authorities say Barbera passed a note to the teller and got away with $400 in marked bills.
He then allegedly went to a Walgreens, wrote another note and told the cashier he had a gun. The cashier did not respond, and the suspect left.
Police say Barbera was arrested in the Walgreens parking lot while trying to flee by getting a cab ride.
