ALORTON, Ill. -- The post offices in the southwestern Illinois communities of Alorton and Cahokia are closed indefinitely after workers discovered mold in both buildings.
U.S. Postal Service spokeswoman Valerie Welsch says the post offices leased by the agency have been idled for precautionary reasons since Saturday. They’ll remain out of service until the mold is removed.
Welsch says anyone with post office boxes in either post office in the two St. Louis suburbs can get their mail at the East St. Louis post office.
