(KMOV.com) – Many banks in the Metro East are alerting customers to a new scam.
Several banks said customers are receiving calls from unknown numbers where the caller alleges the person’s debit card is inactive. The caller then asks you to enter your 16 digit card number in order to reactivate it. One banker said it is easy to avoid this scam.
"Hang up on those calls,” Sandy Stammer of FCB Banks said. A bank will never ask for bank information if you do slip up and give it out call financial institution right away and the bank can put a stop on it.”
Contact police if you believe you have been a victim of this scheme.
