(KMOV.com) – Rush hour drivers will run into an extra headache this afternoon in Clayton. Drivers are urged to avoid southbound Hanley Road due to a broken water main.
A water main break near Polo Drive in Clayton has caused extensive damage to a large, 15 foot by 15 foot, area of southbound Hanley Road. This section of roadway is traveled on by about 25,000 drivers each weekday.
News 4 has been told that both southbound lanes of Hanley are closed just south of Forest Park Parkway for 100 feet. All southbound traffic will be directed into the center lane.
“Drivers headed south on Hanley will experience significant unavoidable delays,” said David Wrone, the public information manager for St. Louis County Public Works.
St. Louis County say that motorists should use Brentwood or Big Bend Boulevard while the repairs are ongoing.
Repairs should be completed by Saturday afternoon at the latest.
