(KMOV) – A St. Louis man was arrested after he allegedly beat a clerk during a robbery at a Cahokia gas station on Oct. 9.

Police say the 33-year-old suspect walked into the BP Amoco Station on Camp Jackson Rd.

The clerk working that night, Kathleen Jacobs said she forgot to lock the door after refilling the ice. That is when police said the suspect walked in the back of the store.

“I’m like, ‘What are you doing? You can’t come back here,’” said Jacobs, “And he was like, ‘Where is the money at?’”

Police say the suspect then punched Jacobs several times. She suffered bruising and other minor injuries.

“I tried to open the register, but he kept yelling at me,” Jacobs said, “I’m like calm down, I can’t press my numbers in.”

The suspect, who is being held in Missouri on unrelated charges, was arrested by U.S. Marshals shortly after the robbery.

The suspect’s identity has not been released because charges have not been filed.
