(KMOV) – Drivers headed from Illinois to Missouri were caught in a big back-up on a major interstate Tuesday morning.
Traffic was backed up for miles on I-55/70 from Route 111 through I-64. That’s near the new Exchange overpass.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, contractors were supposed to be finished placing beams of the new Exchange overpass by 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The contractors ran late and had to periodically shut down lanes of I-55/70 during the early part of the morning commute.
Traffic was backed up in that area for several hours.
