(KMOV.com) -- A long-time St. Louis business has closed its doors after serving the St. Louis area for 65 years.
McHenry Truck Equipment, Inc. was forced to close its doors due to significant declines in sales over the past few years.
The company began in 1946 as McHenry Body Company. It was founded by Elmer McHenry, Sr. and later handed down to Elmer McHenry, Jr. In 2001, the business was sold to former mortgage professional, Charles Koors.
McHenry Truck Equipment was best known within the railroad industry for its manufacturing and service of hi-rail trucks for many local railroads.
The business struggled over the past several years and eventually was unable to stay afloat in an unstable economic time.
