Weather blamed for multiple accidents in the St. Louis area

(KMOV.com) -- Winter weather is being blamed for numerous accidents around the St. Louis area.

In St. Louis, traffic was slowed to a crawl on westbound Interstate 44 at Soccer Park Road.  An accident on the left should had the left lane blocked.

A major accident blocked the southbound lanes of Lewis and Clark Boulevard approaching Interstate 270. 

Another accident at I-270 and Gravois, just past Rt. 30 was blocking both southbound lanes.  Traffic was jammed as crews cleared the wreckage.

Interstate 55 is open after a multi-vehicle accident forced the southbound lanes to shut down between Arsenal and Potomac.  All traffic was being detoured through the Arsenal exit.

Authorities sent out a warning to drivers about icy roads Friday morning. 

Icy spots forced the two left eastbound lanes of RT-364 Page Avenue Extension at Veterans Memorial Bridge to shut down.

Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.

All accidents have been cleared and traffic is expected to move as usual.

No major slow downs were reported on the Illinois side.
