O'FALLON (KMOV) -- Illinois police have issued a 'Code Red' warning to O’Fallon residents after a series of break-ins occurred throughout the area.
A 'Code Red' is an automated phone messaging system that sends alerts to residents during emergencies, crises or inclement weather.
When police began issuing the 'Code Red' Wednesday, several leads pertaining to the break-ins started to develop after witnesses provided information about the suspect and burglaries.
According to officials, the Illinois Police Department plans to use the alert system to help solve future crimes.
Residents who recently received the messages signed up for alerts on the City of O’Fallon’s website.
