(KMOV) -- Shiloh and O’Fallon, Illinois Police are investigating a series of burglaries. The burglar breaks into locked homes during the day, getting away with electronics.
Shiloh’s police chief said his department is investigating three cases. The first occurred at an apartment on Parkland Boulevard on March 2nd. Two days later, police say a burglar broke into a house on Cromwell. Each time, Chief Jim Stover said the burglar used a crowbar or a large screwdriver to pry open front doors.
When the burglar broke into a home on Cheyenne Wells, he found two women inside. A resident told police that she was in a back room when she spotted the man in the house. He ran out of a back door. After that, Chief Stover said the burglaries in Shiloh stopped.
Similar cases later popped up in nearby O’Fallon, Illinois. On March 9th, someone broke into a home on Misty Valley Road. Monday, four residents in apartments along Georgetowne reported burglaries.
Police in O’Fallon said they can’t be sure the cases are all connected. A witness spotted a silver, Geo Tracker SUV in the area of the first burglary. Another witness spotted an SUV, matching that description, in Monday’s burglaries. Police are releasing a photo, taken from surveillance video at a nearby bank, of an SUV leaving Misty Valley.
O’Fallon Police said they have new leads in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
