Spring Training Report: Pujols sitting out today

(KMOV)-- KMOV.com's Brian Feldman is in Jupiter, Florida covering the Cardinals and is posting
regular updates from spring training.

Mar. 23, 1:44 p.m. - Westbrook seems to be getting a lot stronger as the game goes on. That is a great sign for this ball club. He hasn't been this good all spring.

Mar. 23, 1:42 p.m. - Holliday crushes Dickey's knuckle ball. I don't see what the problem is? He makes it look easy. Why can't everyone else?

Mar. 23, 1:19 p.m. - Molina gets nailed by a knuckle ball. Well, getting nailed is an overstatement. I bet it barely hurt Yadi. Comes in around 60 mph.

Mar. 23, 12:56 p.m. - Theriot now 7-47 (.149) this spring. Use that information however you choose.

Mar. 23, 12:55 p.m. - Westbrook Ks trying to bunt a knuckle ball. That HAS to be tough. Can't blame him for that.

Mar. 23, 12:48 p.m. - Mets GM Sandy Alderson talking to media in clubhouse now about Carlos Beltran. Expect him to be ready not too long from now.

Mar. 23, 12:39 p.m. -  Had players tell me hitting a knuckle ball is like hitting a whiffle ball. It just floats all over. You try and hit the bottom half of the ball.

Mar. 23, 12:34 p.m. - A run so far off Westbrook and another in scoring position. It hasn't been a good spring for him numbers wise. Wondering at what point it becomes an issue?

Mar. 23, 12:25 p.m. - Avg in the .100s for Theriot as he strikes out looking. Been a tough spring for him at the plate. The Cards will badly need him this season.

Mar. 23, 9:55 a.m. - As for the bullpen...every day now the guys out there will be listed
as available. Getting in the groove of pitching regularly.

Mar. 23, 9:54 a.m. - And, no, the 40 man roster had nothing to do with the
Carpenter/Descalso decision. Tony said they were under orders to pick
the best team. Point blank.

Mar. 23, 9:51 a.m. - Meanwhile...Descalso has shown, even just a little, that he can handle
that role of coming off the bench. When he was in STL in September of
last year he did an excellent job. Especially at 3rd.

Mar. 23. 9:48 a.m. - Another note from Tony regarding cuts made a couple days ago. Matt
Carpenter has been phenomenal in camp, yes, but they want him playing
everyday. The worst thing would be him getting off to a slow start and
getting buried.

Mar. 23, 9:45 a.m. - On the schedule for today put out by Tony...at 10:45 there is
"starters offense" listed under the pitchers program. The
participants? Carp, Lohse, Garcia and MCCLELLAN. Unreal that Tony
won't publicly acknowledge it when all the evidence is there. Unreal.

Mar. 23, 9:07 a.m. - It wasn't anything official with McClellan. Tony was just having fun
with us. So who knows if he'll even do it Friday.

Mar. 23, 9:06 a.m. - Tony announces that he'll announce the McClellan thing in Vierra on
Friday. So is that an announcement in itself? I would think so.

Mar. 23, 8:56 a.m. - Albert got stepped on at 1st base on Monday but he's fine. Will play
tomorrow. Rasmus got beaned on the hip bone by the Nationals that day
too and still a little sore.

Mar. 23, 8:52 a.m. - Tony says the reason for the lineup delay is because a knuckleballer
(R.A. Dickey) is going for the Mets and it could be hurtful for the starters at this point. So Tyler Henley will play RF and Andrew Brownwill play 1st.

Mar. 23, 8:21 a.m. - Cards in a meeting. No lineup posted yet. First time I've seen that happen.
