(KMOV)-- The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of armed robbery outside of the Luna Café in Granite City.

Authorities say the female victim contacted the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Saturday around 10:35 p.m. reporting she was robbed at the parking lot on the 200 block of East Chain of Rocks Road.

The victim reported that she pulled onto the parking lot and was following a box type vehicle, possibly a gold or silver S.U.V which parked several spaces away from her. She stated that she was walking up the steps to the café, when a male grabbed her from behind holding a handgun and demanded her purse.

The victim told police the suspect took her purse and left the area traveling west on East Chain of Rocks Road.

The victim described the suspect as a bald, white male, possibly in his late 20’s with acne scars on his face. She stated the suspect was wearing a black leather jacket and light colored jeans.

The victim was not injured.
