ALTON, Ill. (AP) -- An 18-year-old Alton High School student is free on bond after being accused of repeatedly punching another female student on a school bus.
Madison County prosecutors charged Cairra Moore on Friday with aggravated battery in connection with the altercation two days earlier.
Sheriff's Capt. Brad Wells says students were exiting the bus at the high school when Moore thought another student had bumped into her.
Wells says the two exchanged words before Moore punched the victim during the nearly three-minute altercation before a school security officer intervened.
Moore couldn't be reached for comment. She doesn't have a listed home telephone number, and it isn't clear if she has an attorney.
