(KMOV.com) -- On Monday, hundreds of friends and family members gathered to remember a local leader.
Francis R. Slay, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay's father, was laid to rest on Monday morning. Services were held at St. Raymond's Maronite Cathedral in St. Louis.
In 1966, Slay was elected to the House of Representatives. He also owned Slay's Restaurant and managed The Cedars, a popular banquet facility in downtown St. Louis, for nearly 30 years.
Slay is survived by his wife, two siblings and 11 children. Slay was 83.
