(KMOV) - Angry and frustrated are two words East St. Louis residents are using to describe how they feel about the flooding on 8th street. A News 4 viewer contacted us about constant flooding so we checked it out. Not only is it an inconvenience but drivers say it's damaging their cars."
Sandy Jobst says, "You just have to judge according to the weather whether they're gonna be able to drive thru at 8th street or go along the highway." However, if you choose to drive thru 8th street, you'll be faced with a pool of water deep enough to cause some serious damage to your car.
Another drives tells News 4, "it's tearing up engines and going underneath cars. It's just not good for the city period." 8th street is constantly busy with people making their way to the metro stop just around the corner. This flooding causes many to leave the house 30 minutes early just so they can get to work on time. The only way around it is to go back around the highway.
News 4 contacted the city of East St. Louis several times. Our calls were not returned.
