Ameren Missouri touts safety in wake of Japanese nuclear crisis

The higher-ups in Ameren Missouri want the public to know their Callaway Nuclear Power Plant about 100 miles west of St. Louis is built to endure the worst earthquakes, tornadoes and floods that could come this way.

That said, they're always trying to make the plant safer.  Ameren Missouri's Chief Nuclear Officer, Adam Heflin says there's no reason we should lose sleep over the plant.  The people who run it do that for us.

"I have never seen anybody that treats running a nuclear plant as a casual operation so I think you should take comfort in that, " says Heflin.  "I wouldn't say you should have zero worry, just like we will never get to a point we're not concerned and worried and looking for ways we can improve.  We will never be complacent."
