BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- A 28-year-old man has been ordered to spend 30 years in an Illinois prison in a fatal shooting in East St. Louis.
A St. Clair County judge sentenced Raymond Harris of St. Louis on Thursday. The judge found Harris guilty last October of first-degree murder.
Harris was convicted of shooting Amarian Williams in the back of the head in October 2008 while the victim was on the front porch of Williams' mother's home.
Prosecutors had sought a 40-year sentence, twice the punishment requested by Harris' attorneys.
