EAST ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- The St. Clair County State Attorney’s Office announced Thursday that Raymond Harris was sentenced to 30 years prison for first degree murder.
Harris, 28, of St. Louis, pleaded guilty to the offense last October, and will spend his sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
According to authorities, Harris shot and killed Amarian Williams in East St. Louis, Ill. Williams was shot in the back of the head on his mother's front porch in 2008.
Assistant State Attorney Steven Sallerson requested Harris be sentenced to 40 years in prison, while the defendant asked for a 20-year term.
The case was investigated by the East St. Louis Police Department.
