SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- A federal judge has ordered a southern Illinois man to spend five years in prison for having more than 1,000 images of child pornography on his computer and related equipment in 2007.

Forty-three-year-old Tony Nepute of Benld was sentenced Tuesday in Springfield, where he pleaded guilty last August to one count of possessing child pornography.

U.S. District Judge Richard Mills also ordered Nepute to serve the remainder of his life on supervision after his prison term.

Nepute is to report to the federal prison system by June 1 to begin serving his sentence.
