Jupiter, Florida (KMOV.com) -- KMOV.com's Brian Feldman is in Jupiter, Florida covering the Cardinals and is posting regular updates from spring training.

Mar. 15, 2:25 p.m. - Ian Snell has retired. Cards sent him out but he elected to move on with his career.

Mar. 15, 1:45 p.m. - McClellan says he's gone farther in games as a starter this year than any other spring so far. Only went 3 innings in '09 and '10.

Mar. 15, 1:45 p.m. - McClellan: "I like my chances" regarding being the 5th starter

Mar. 15, 12:43 p.m. - McClellan keeps cruising through 3. Gets Brian McCann to strikeout looking to end an inning AGAIN. That's tough to do.

Mar. 15, 12:35 p.m. - Rasmus doubles and then scores on RBI single from Schumaker. Seeing Colby's speed around the bases reminds me of how dangerous he can be in the 2 spot. He could score from anywhere with Albert batting.

Mar. 15, 12:29 p.m. - McClellan gets out of trouble in the 2nd...Matt Young grounds out to Theriot with bases loaded to end the inning. Good to see...but he did walk a couple guys.

Mar. 15, 12:15 p.m. - Meanwhile...tough spring (numbers-wise) continues for Theriot. Grounds out 6-3 to start the game...now hitting under .200 overall.

Mar. 15, 12:14 p.m. - Hard hit ball right at the shortstop. Hey...that's just bad luck. Hard contact against a proven big leauger? Tony will love that.

Mar. 15, 12:11 p.m. - Excellent start for McClellan so far. K'ed up Nate McLouth and Brian McCann back-to-back to close out 1st inning. McClellan wants that starter job so beyond badly. And he's earning it. Been fantastic this spring.

Mar. 15, 9:31 a.m. - Garcia says Gast's pickoff move is the "best I've ever seen". Wow.
That's high praise. He says it's so cool and you can learn from
anybody...even someone in the minor leagues.

Mar. 15, 9:26 a.m. - John Gast still personally working with Garcia on his pickoff move to
1st. I find that interesting. A prospect who isn't nearly as good as
Jaime essentially coaching him on the one thing he can do that Garcia
cannot.

Mar. 15, 9:19 a.m. - Wait...Gast is helping Garcia with his "balk" pickoff move to 1st
base. Gast's is outstanding and routinely gets people out with it.
That could be a real weapon for Jaime.

Mar. 15, 9:17 a.m. - Tony La Russa also talking to Garcia and Duncan following the side
session. John Gast (prospect) even seems to be giving tips.

Mar. 15, 9:12 a.m. - Garcia working a lot on his curveball. Keeping it as low as possible.
After that...he's going to the cutter. Then the change up.

Mar. 15, 9:10 a.m. - Dave Duncan is intently watching Jaime Garcia throw his side session
right now. Possibly trying to figure out what's been wrong with him
the last couple times out.

Mar. 15, 9:03 a.m. - Chris Carpenter won't be really held back that much tomorrow. He has
been keeping his arm in shape and did go through most of his first
start before getting hurt. So he's not at square one.

Mar. 15, 8:56 a.m. - Kyle McClellan should throw around 70-75 pitches today...which is what
Lohse was scheduled to do yesterday before he got through 6 innings in
just 61 pitches. Further evidence McClellan is the 5th starter. Just
waiting for official announcement that won't come for a week at least.

Mar. 15, 8:40 a.m. - Word is from some players on the club that Adam Wainwright will be in
town tonight. That would put him in camp tomorrow when we're all in
Lakeland. Wonderful.

Mar. 15, 8:00 a.m. - Lineup 3/15: Theriot 6...Carpenter 5...Pujols 3...Holliday 7...Berkman
DH...Rasmus 8...Molina 2...Schumaker 4...Jay 9 (Kyle McClellan is
starting on the mound)
