Drivers complain about traffic back-ups on Page Ave. extension

(KMOV.com) – Many motorists are complaining about traffic back-ups on the newest leg of the Page Avenue Extension (Route 364) that opened Sunday.

The new section, which is supposed to be two lanes in each direction, only has one lane open in certain stretches as crews continue to work on guardrails and striping. The speed limit has been reduced to 45 miles per hour and the exit ramp to Mid Rivers Mall Drive is still closed. MoDOT said heavy volume is also due to the fact that drivers want to check out the new road.

“Wait until everything is fully open before you see what the best way to go is,” said Tom Evers with MoDOT. “It will be a good project, right now we cope both lanes but we still, by opening one lane, it still gives people a good choice to use and through most of the day 364 flows well.”

Traffic lights have been added but officials said those lights will be adjusted based on traffic patterns. The road is expected to fully open by Thanksgiving.
