MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Tyrone Benedict was on trial Monday for the murder of a Maryland Heights quadriplegic man he was caring for in 2011.

The home was on fire in the 100 block of Kinswood in south St. Louis Inside, police found Mark J. Woods. Investigators said Woods was the owner of the home. He lived alone and had limited mobility due to a physical impairment.

Benedict was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree arson in connection with the death of Woods. Prosecutors believe Benedict started the fire and stabbed Woods several times in the neck.
