OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) - Ryan O'Connor was on a flight heading back to Kansas City when he struck up a conversation with pitcher Danny Duffy's father.

Later, O'Connor would regret not asking Duffy's Pops for a ducat to a World Series game.

Somehow his lament came up in conversation with a family at Rock and Brews in Overland Park where O'Connor works as a server.

At the end of the meal, O'Connor drops off the check to a customer he thinks likely will never see again. But Katelyn Davis, wife of star reliever Wade Davis, had other plans.

Her sister couldn't go to Game 1 of the World Series so she had an extra ticket.

"I was going to give you a tip, but I thought you'd like this better" she told her server.

A dumbfounded O'Connor could only stare at her in amazement. She joked that he would have to sit with the pitcher's family but that they were "a pretty cool family."

He was scheduled to work that night but raced to his boss' office to ask for it off. His baffled boss looked at the ticket and presented and "got instant chills down his back," O'Connor recalled.

And, yes, he got the night off. And yes, he sat with Katelyn Davis and the rest of the Davis contingent and had a blast even though the Royals lost. He even managed to meet the pitcher after the game, and got to see Duffy's dad again.

And he will have memories that will last a lifetime about the best tip ever.
