FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A website has been set up to collect donations to buy more protective gear for officers in Ferguson.

The website, Gofundme.com, is hosting “Helmets for Heroes,” a fundraiser aiming to raise $25,000 dollars for bulletproof helmets and face shields for police officers in Ferguson.

According to the website, many believe the Grand Jury’s decision on whether or not to indict Darren Wilson, the officer who shot and killed Michael Brown, may “place our officers in a position of imminent danger” so in response, many have been donating in an effort to keep officers safe.

A few hours after "Helmets for Heroes" began, the cause had generated more than $700.
