ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Four armed robberies occurred in a matter of 15 minutes near the popular Compton Heights neighborhood Monday.
Investigators said the armed robberies occurred within blocks of each other. Victims were approached on Hartford Street, Louisiana Avenue and Shenandoah Avenue.
Witnesses describe the suspect as a man in his 20s who was wearing a skullcap and armed with a handgun. In one case, the suspect told the victim to turn and run after he stole her wallet.
With residents concerned, the area alderwoman has a plan to combat the recent surge in crime.
“The crimes … obviously seem to be the work of just a few people who are targeting the area,” said Ward 6 Alderwoman Christine Ingrassia. She added that the thieves have not been caught, but she is working closely with police to control the recent rash of crime.
Investigators believe the cases are all connected. They ask anybody with information to call police.
