ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police have charged a Cottage Hills, Illinois man with abuse of a corpse, a felony charge, after he allegedly dumped a man’s body in an alley over the weekend.
According to police, Willie M. Jenkins Jr., 34, disposed of Adam J. Sneed’s, 28, body in an alley in the 2200 block of Angelica in St. Louis on Saturday Oct. 18.
Police say a witness saw a person in a silver or gold van place Sneed’s body in the alley and drive away. Authorities say there were no identifiers found on the body and a fingerprint analysis had to be conducted.
Madison County Sheriff’s Investigators linked Sneed to Jenkins and determined Jenkins was the last person with Sneed. They also determined Jenkins owned a van similar to the one reportedly seen by the witness. Officials say they have evidence which revealed Jenkins was the person who placed Sneed’s body in the alley.
An autopsy was conducted and officials concluded there were no signs of trauma or obvious evidence of foul play in Sneed’s death. His exact cause of death has not been determined but evidence gathered during the investigation indicates narcotic use may have played a part.
Jenkins was taken into custody on Wednesday. Police say he also had an outstanding warrant issued by the Wood River Police Department for disorderly conduct.
Jenkins is currently in the Madison County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
