ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police are investigating a series of stabbings and shootings that occurred in St. Louis Tuesday and left at least three people dead and five others injured.
Police said Lorenzo Stafford, 29, was shot in the head in the 2900 block of Hebert around 2:30 p.m. He was taken to a hospital but later pronounced dead.
According to police, the suspects were driving a Chrysler with tinted windows.
Roughly three hours later, 31-year-old Roscoe Johnson was shot in the face and back of the head as he was sitting in his car in the 5100 block of Goodfellow. Authorities said he died at the scene.
Police say the shooters were driving a light-colored Impala or Malibu when they pulled up alongside Johnson and began firing shots at his vehicle.
Less than an hour after Johnson was killed, a 22-year-old woman was cut on the shoulder when she went to angrily confront two women who she knows by their nicknames. Police say a verbal argument began between the three women and one of the women pulled out a small knife and cut the victim on her shoulder.
The victim sustained a small cut to her shoulder blade and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Around 8:00 p.m., a 44-year-old man was in the 3600 block of North 25th when he saw the suspect, who he knows only by a nickname, and engaged in an argument with an unknown female. According to police, the victim approached the suspect and the suspect produced a firearm. Police say the suspect hit the victim in the head with the firearm, causing him to fall to the ground.
The suspect then fired a shot at the victim, striking him in the stomach. The victim is currently listed in stable condition at a hospital.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, 175 to 185 pounds. Police say he was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and a black Raiders hat at the time of the incident.
Thirty minutes later, police were called to the 4900 block of Emerson for a “shooting” and located Jerri Thomas, 55, unconscious lying on the ground next to a vehicle. Police say she had a gunshot wound to the back and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle told police he was driving north on Beacon when he heard gunshots and saw Thomas had been struck. The driver continued driving until they arrived in the 4900 block of Emerson and contacted police.
Authorities then went to the 4900 block of Beacon where they found a 51-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the hip. He was taken to an area hospital and is listed in stable condition.
A man with the victim told police they were about to enter his residence when unknown suspects in a maroon vehicle began firing shots at them.
Several parked vehicles in the area were struck by gunfire.
At 8:35 p.m., a 54-year-old man was stabbed while watching television with his friend inside his home in the 1500 block of McCausland. The victim told police they were watching television when the suspect stabbed him in the lower abdomen with a large butcher knife.
The victim was taken to a hospital and listed in serious, stable condition. Police say they took the 51-year-old suspect into custody and recovered a knife at the scene.
According to police, the suspect and victim appeared highly intoxicated at the time of the incident.
A short time later, a 36-year-old man was shot in his arm and leg while walking on Ridge towards Semple. The victim told police he saw a gold Equinox behind him and the passenger repeatedly fired shots at him.
The victim was taken to a hospital by a family member where is listed in serious, stable condition.
All investigations are currently ongoing.
