(KMOV.com) – St. Ann police said officers were almost injured in a high speed chase Tuesday afternoon.

Police said they tried to set up a sting at a gas station on St. Charles Rock Road in order to arrest a suspect who is wanted on drugs and weapons charges. According to police, when the suspect arrived officers tried to use their cars to box him in but he was able to drive away.

Authorities said he then drove his car at two officers, forcing them to jump out of the way. Police said they then pursued the suspect at speeds around 100 MPH as he drove onto I-70 and into north St. Louis where police lost track of him.

According to police, they believe the suspect may face drug and weapons charges, along with charges of assault on a law enforcement officer.
