SLATE seeking minorities for construction projects with MSD

ST. LOUIS- The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) American Jobs Center has begun collecting information on individuals, particularly in minority populations and women, interested in working on City projects funded through the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD). 

Most of the positions will require no previous experience and training will be provided to qualified participants to prepare for such in-demand occupations as septic tank and sewer pipe cleaner, water/wastewater treatment plant operator, pipelayer, construction laborer, plumber, and pipefitter among others.

Applicants with construction experience and pre-apprenticeship graduates who are currently unemployed or underemployed in an unrelated industry are also welcome. 

To participate, candidates must create an account on and send a resume to with the subject line "Sewer Occupations". 

A Special Project Advisor will contact participants with the next steps in the proccess of applying for a position for the projects. 

Jobs in the positions are expected to grow by 22 percent over the next ten years, with sewer occupations being especially in demand throughtout the St. Louis area as MSD undertakes massive sewer upgrades across various municipalities.
