(KMOV.com) – Police released video of several aggressive protesters who gathered near the scene of the Vonderrit Myers Jr shooting in the Shaw neighborhood.

Police said many demonstrators who were still angry over the shooting of Michael Brown, Jr, unleashed their fury on officers as they gathered near the scene where Myers was shot. According to police, some people became more enraged as police began to leave.

Police said the video creates an image that is alarming.

“The protesters are so aggressive, so vile to officers and their families. It is very disturbing to me,” said St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson.

Despite the actions of some, protest leaders have denounced violence.

“I don’t want any violence in these protests. We love our city, we’re not here to destroy property,” said protester Kennard Williams.

Police insist the threats are rising even as they say they try not to clash with protesters.
