OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A Missouri inmate has been served with an arrest warrant for the 1992 strangulation of a woman.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said Tuesday a national database reported a match to a profile obtained from DNA recovered from Georgette Pless, whose nude body was found in a Lincoln County creek bed on Nov. 29, 1992. The agency says the profile matched Dennis Ray Wright Jr.
Investigators say two days before she was found, Pless left her Tulsa apartment to panhandle at a Wal-Mart. She returned to tell her family she had been hired to clean a man's home but wasn't seen again.
OSBI says Wright lived near the Wal-Mart where Pless was panhandling and worked a mile from where she was discovered.
Agents questioned Wright at a St. Joseph, Mo., corrections facility, but he denied knowing Pless.
