MU track and field leaves mark at Tracktown, USA

What football is in most college towns, track and field is in Eugene, Oregon. The Oregon track team has their own billboards reading, "Do you have your seat" regarding buying tickets for the 2010 NCAA track and field meet, which will be held June 9-12 at the famous Hayward field stadium in Eugene.

At this small yet prestigious Pepsi Invitational this past weekend, nearly 5,000 visitors came to watch Missouri compete against the University of Oregon, University of Washington, Texas A&M and the University of Illinois.

Washington's women are currently ranked 12th in the nation, but at the end of the meet, Missouri women nudged them out for an overall third place. Missouri men placed fifth against a stacked field where Oregon and Texas A&M are currently ranked 2nd and 3rd nationally.

After the meet, some of the Tigers ran while others rode by car to see the famous "Pre's rock," the site where the famous runner died after being pinned by his car in an accident that involved alcohol.

The Tigers travel to Lawrence, Kansas this weekend to compete in the Kansas Relays.
