We're in Pontoon Beach, IL this afternoon covering the tragic death of a 6-year-old girl. Lyvia Roach died from head injuries. Right now, police are investigating the incident.
What we know is--neighbors say she was on her way home from playing at a neighbor's house down the street on Sunday about 5:30. A pick-up truck pulled out of a drive-way. A passenger in the truck saw Lyvia lying on the grass near the driveway.
An autopsy revealed she died from head injuries. The coroner's investigation states the "head injuries and wound patterns were consistent with vehicle contact and did not appear to be the consequence of a fall."
Today, Jan Carmack, a neighbor, was going door-to-door collecting money to help the family. We asked her if someone saw our story and wanted to donate, what should they do? She said she wasn't sure. She said this was the first time she'd ever done something like this. She just wanted to help.
She said if anyone wants to help they can call her home. 618-931-0343
